Beringharjo Market

Malioboro is the heart of Yogyakarta city. This road is never devoid of tourists, both local or overseas. Of culinary tourism, batik, handicraft and other forms of souvenirs here. During my four days in Jogja, more or less I can find unique things here. May be useful for you.

At the end of Jalan Malioboro, there is a famous batik market that called Bringharjo Market. Beringharjo has been functioning as a trading place since 1758. You'll find a huge collection of bantik here in a very low price. Depending on your expertise in bargaining the price. If you just want to buy it for souvenirs, I recommend this place for you, because the price is relatively cheap. You can get a batik shirt, ranging from 35 thousand to 80 thousand. Depending on the material, and stitching. Don't miss to find the ancient batik here. Maybe its little more on shabby shape, but the material used is very nice and cool when we wear it. I got buy a unique batik shirts color of blue with fish motifs.

Along the front of the market, you can enjoy a variety of typical foods of Jogja. Pecel, buntil, mangut lele, tempe bacem or tahu gembus bacem need you to try. Don't forget for special beverages such as Dawet is best choice when the air is getting hot and sweaty. Don't be afraid the price is very friendly. But maybe you'll be little interfere with the street busker. So be prepare with the coins.
